safe people, safe places, safe tairāwhiti

The SCFNZ is a not-for-profit organisation established to champion community safety and injury prevention. The mission of the SCFNZ is to promote, support, and inspire communities to create and develop a safer environment, and adopt safer behaviours through building local capacity to:

  1. Address and reduce risk factors associated with the causes of injuries and crime
  2. Promote safer environments and a positive safety culture

The vision of the SCFNZ is a county in which:

“People can enjoy all aspects of their lives free from the fear, cost and pain of preventable injury and crime.”

Creating a safe Tairāwhiti is built on three SCFNZ core values:

  1. Safety is a fundamental human right
  2. People are at the heart of making communities safer places to live, work, learn, travel, and play
  3. Everybody has a responsibility to promote and maintain their safety and the safety of others
