Tamariki Ora is part of a wider collective in Tairāwhiti who collaborate and work together to achieve better outcomes for our tamariki/children and their family. Recently it has become apparent that a stock take of current governmental and non-governmental initiatives, programmes, and services dedicated to helping our tamariki/children and their family was required. A Working Group, in consultation with key stakeholders, has built on work done by the E Tipu E Rea Project to build sound foundations for social and health outcomes for mokopuna and tamariki/children under Tamariki Ora.

Tairawhiti Parent Pack
Young people are moving through an exciting, yet daunting period in their life. This period of change is marked by new challenges and experiences, pressures and expectations. This can take a huge toll on them both socially, physically and emotionally. This Parent Pack has been developed by Safe Tairāwhiti Community Trust as a resource for youth/rangatahi to help them negotiate the minefield that is, “growing up a teenager.” This includes drugs and alcohol, peer pressure, relationships and sexuality, identity, and mental health issues. The Parent Pack is also a source of useful information for families/whanau and caregivers to help you identify triggers and factors that causes stress, and how to connect with your child to overcome those issues together.
